On consistency
I cannot remember the books I've read any more than the meals I have eaten; even so, they have made me.
-Emmerson
There is something so cliche about the amateur intellectual quoting Emmerson. But as I go through my notes this quote highlights, for me, the importance of consistency.
The daily act of anything, when compounded over time, contributes to growth and development. It’s hard to point to any one day or any one single act to define ourselves. Rather, it’s through the many small steps and daily habits that we become something else.
As I take on a new creative challenge I’m reminded that these words aren’t all that important in isolation, they are just one small footprint trodden on a new path.
