Google-able Questions

I'll often hesitate to ask people simple questions. I worry I'll appear stupid for asking a question I could have just googled. Why waste their time? Why not just google the answer?

But I do wonder if this convenience comes at a cost. Is there nothing to gain from a person solidifying something they know by giving you the answer?

And is the discovery that no one has an answer not an opportunity to learn something together?

Everything may be searchable, but communicating knowledge and ideas, thinking collaboratively to solve problems, and making new discoveries, these things are in our nature.

What changes might we see as a result of technology mediating our shared understanding? What happens when we get different answers to very important questions? What happens when we feel our ideas and understanding no longer need to come into contact with other minds, especially those who might have arrived at different answers?

I think there might be some value in asking real people google-able questions.
